MAIZE
QUALITY SEED
J. Pickard & Co. Ltd. is a proud supplier of Limagrain maize seed varieties and especially those that have been awarded the distinctive LGAN (Limagrain Animal Nutrition) seal of approval.
This is only awarded to selected maize varieties that combine very high starch content with improved fibre digestibility. These exceptional varieties have the genetic potential to deliver high silage yields of superior nutritional value that can enhance cow performance and boost profitability. In the UK, all LG maize varieties will be evaluated over eight parameters, important to UK farmers. Only varieties that excel in these eight criteria will receive the LGAN accreditation. The very high levels of starch and improved fibre digestibility will ensure LGAN varieties provide excellent levels of energy.

Within our maize seed portfolio we are also proud to supply MAS 09P from Bright Seeds - an excellent variety that has performed well in both favourable and less favourable sites.

Introducing Mz Excelerator!
The placement of fertiliser below and to one side of the precision drilled maize seed can give a considerable benefit to the crop, especially in a difficult year. The most widely used fertiliser for this purpose is Di Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) However, the utilisation of Phosphate in DAP is usually around 15% due to the rapid blocking of the water-soluble phosphates by free Iron (Fe) or Aluminium (Al) in acidic soils and Calcium (Ca) in more neutral soils. The addition of Humates (Humic or Fulvic acids) can increase the availability of P to the growing plant by up to 9 times.

Stronger establishment
Increased DM yield
Higher DM% & earlier ripening
Greater starch content
Improved ME
No need for micro-granular applicator
Higher drill work rate

Enhances clay-humus complex
Reduces nutrient ‘lock up’
Boost availability of existing soil nutrients
Increases cation exchange capacity
Improve soil structure, drainage & drought tolerance

Korit® Pro is a new unique seed treatment combination for maize being offered by Limagrain. The treatment has three modes of action, and unlike the standard Korit®, which only offers a measure of bird repellency, the new Korit® Pro also includes additional fungicide protection, it boosts root development and improves crop emergence.

Korit® Pro has 3 modes of action:

Bird Repellent
With the loss of Mesurol, the most effective bird repellent on the market becomes Korit (active ingredient Ziram). Trial work shows it is less effective than Mesurol at preventing bird damage and therefore other measures to reduce the risk should be considered.

Promotes Root Development
Korit® Pro includes Sedaxane which protects the plant against attack from the Rhizoctonia pathogen. Infection is favoured by cold and compacted soils and Rhizoctonia causes stem and root rot, damping-off and foliar blight, which can lead to nutrient and water stress resulting in significant field losses. Sedaxane helps by improving root development, which sets the foundation for higher, more consistent yields.

Provides Essential Trace Elements
Manganese and Zinc are included in the seed treatment. Placement of these trace elements close to the roots improves crop emergence and establishment through the sensitive 2-6 leaf period.

Zinc is involved in the synthesis of auxins necessary for root development and stem elongation, and the formation of chlorophyll for sustained photosynthetic activity. Zinc deficiency can delay flowering and reduce plant size, increasing susceptibility to disease and ultimately a loss of yield.

Manganese is involved in enzymatic activity, chlorophyll synthesis, photosynthesis, nitrate reduction, amino acid and protein synthesis.

The new, unique seed treatment combination, with triple modes of action, provided by Korit® Pro ensures your maize crop has the best available protection and nutrients for a healthy start to life.

For each step, use the safety equipment required!

Transport and Storage
Check that all the bags are intact
During transport, users and seed bags must be physically separated (ex: in a trailer).
Transport bags in the original packaging
Store in locked-up and well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed
Dispose of contents/container in accordance with local regulations
Collect spillage

Before Sowing (when opening the seed bags and filling the seed drill hoppers)
Avoid exposure to dust
Avoid the transfer of dust from the seed bag into the seed drill hoppers
Do not reprocess treated seed with additional products

During Sowing
When using a pneumatic vacuum seed drill, the dust from the treated seeds must be directed towards the ground surface by using deflectors
To protect birds and mammals, treated seeds must be well covered with soil, including at the end of the furrow

After Sowing
Do not leave empty bags or treated seeds unusable in the environment. Eliminate them in accordance with current legislation
Return all unused treated seeds to their original bags and do not reuse empty bags for other uses
Do not use treated seeds for human or animal consumption or to produce derived products
Wash your hands and all exposed parts of your body before eating and after work
